Case Study: Worldwide non-profit organization of 13 million members

The Problem: To create a web-based set of monthly publications using the original printing files. The HTML documents needed to be searchable and have cross-reference links and images. The total project consisted of yearly publication of 10 issues of 64 pages and 2 issues of 128 pages in 5 to 25 languages per year/issue, for five years worth. Total volume: 100,000+ pages of printed material converted to web format.

The Challenges: Several languages use non-roman fonts and the fonts did not immediately transfer to HTML. The sheer volume of the project also created considerable challenges with consistency across each issue for all languages, including the style sheets, links, and content.

The Solution: We took a three-step approach: initial stripping of the text, conversion to HTML, and programming for final usability. Each step involved creating methodologies and automation scripts to streamline tasks and maximize consistency.

The Result: We met each scheduled milestone and all required issues were successfully converted and posted to the client's hosting site.
